The Mountainfilm team quickly realized that building a virtual festival didn't require starting from scratch. Through Eventive, the Mountainfilm team was able to download data from their previously scheduled in-person events and re-upload those events as virtual screenings.The virtual festival in 2020 was so successful that Mountainfilm chose to host hybrid festivals in 2021 and 2022, so they could offer the best of both worlds: the iconic in-person festival in the heart of scenic Telluride, Colorado, plus access for viewers around the world to watch from home.

Mountainfilm hosts successful annual fundraisers each winter in Telluride, charging admission and encouraging generous donations at checkout. They also leverage their worldwide fanbase to collect donations to offset losses incurred by the pandemic.Further, Mountainfilm uses Eventive to collect donations as part of an end-of-year giving campaign. By keeping everything on the Eventive platform, the Mountainfilm team can track which films their most generous donors attended so they can personalize larger asks in the future.

Eventive allowed Mountainfilm to feature content such as behind-the-scenes featurettes, filmmaker introductions, Q&A sessions, and even a virtual dance party. This sort of virtual engagement is important for creating festival excitement for viewers at home.The Mountainfilm team also took advantage of digital ad space on each screening page to recognize sponsors and partner organizations. This space also offers a great opportunity to invite viewers to learn more about the causes they care about.
